The Silver Lining Charity is a non-profit organization dedicated to raising funds to help impoverished families in Iceland. We urge all Icelanders, at home and abroad, and all friends of Iceland to come to the aid of families who now face extreme difficulties caused by the recent financial collapse. Those suffering the most are innocent bystanders in the economic recession; they must struggle with little or no income, and no employment. A staggering number of previously middle-class families now face poverty and struggle just to put food on the table.
We have made donating easy for everyone. You can donate online with credit and debit cards by clicking on the Donate button. We use the PayPal service for our transactions, but it is not necessary for you to have a PayPal account to donate.
There are organizations in Iceland who feed the needy, but they are overwhelmed by the current demand. It is our mission to raise funds to support these organizations, so every family that needs help, gets it.
Our objective is always that 100% of donations go to the cause and we keep our overhead as low as possible.
We want to urge everyone to donate now, as the holidays are around the corner, and demand for help will be high during this time. Our first contribution will be in December 2009.
